Services to Attorneys

Firm principal David O. Lewis is certified as a mediator by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. Because of his experience over four decades in representing parties in civil court, and in trying hundreds of cases to a conclusion, lawyers across North Carolina designate him to help resolve cases through Superior Court Mediated Settlement Conferences. Attorneys across North Carolina also call on him to serve as an arbitrator in personal injury, estate, and business cases.

Our firm's seasoned trial lawyers are available for association with other attorneys. We are regularly consulted on litigation matters, including case evaluation and strategy formation.

Civil Litigation

Civil litigation – bringing or defending cases in court – has been a central part of Bryant & Lewis's work for decades. Our lawyers have tried hundreds of jury and non-jury cases to judgment.

Legal Advice to Businesses

Organizing and running a business requires legal advice from time to time. Often, early consultation with an attorney about a legal question saves a business time and expense.

Bryant & Lewis' attorneys advise business owners and managers on legal rights, legal obligations, and legal solutions to business problems. We help businesses with employment and insurance coverage issues, and we help businesses collect money owed.

Our goal is to help business clients avoid legal problems, to find effective solutions to legal problems when they arise, and to help our clients succeed.

Mediation & Alternative Dispute Resolution

Mediation

As a trial lawyer for forty years, Bryant & Lewis' principal David O. Lewis has represented parties throughout North Carolina in personal injury cases, construction cases, estate cases, business dispute cases, products liability cases, medical malpractice cases, and legal malpractice cases. He has tried Superior Court cases to verdict throughout our State. He has participated in thousands of mediated settlement conferences all across the State with the best mediators and attorneys practicing in North Carolina.

Through this work, he has seen and experienced what works in mediation – and what does not work. Because he is a practicing trial lawyer, as well as a mediator certified by North Carolina’s Dispute Resolution Commission, he understands case economics. He knows the evidentiary rules, venue characteristics, and judge characteristics, and he has rapport with insurance representatives and parties. He provides cogent explanations of law and procedure, This experience and knowledge helps mediation participants and insurance representatives evaluate each side’s risks and exposure. It helps get cases settled.

Arbitration

David Lewis also uses his experience and knowledge to resolve cases as an arbitrator. He has adjudicated scores of cases as a single arbitrator or as a member of an arbitration panel. Because of the variety and depth of his experience, and because he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants, parties have used him to decide matters and avoid the costs and time involved with court litigation.
